There will not be a General Meeting on Thursday August 1, 2024 Mid-Summer greetings to all, It is hoped that all of you are getting out and skiing and enjoying the (hot lately) summer. Here are some updates.

Grand American 1 and 2 Tournaments were held at Lakeside Ranch July 13-14, co-hosted by SCCWSC and Lakeside Ranch they were great tournaments. They were among the last tournaments before Regionals and John Collins was chief Judge and Donna Collins Chief Scorer. Kevin Bishop had it set up so the same Malibu and Mastercraft boats to be used at Regionals were the tow boats for these tournaments, and there was some great skiing to be had. Saturday eve Cabana Dave’s (Dave is a Lakeside member) catering hosted an amazing dinner and as it cooled down it was great. https://www.facebook.com/cabanadavescatering/

Learn to Ski Days Larry is perpetuating a long tradition of teaching young people the joy of watersports in general and thrill of learning to ski. The first two were held July 11 and 24 at Calero Reservoir. It is remarkable that the Boys and Girls club leaders now recall (and it becomes a great memory) learning to ski with our club. And thanks to the crew for making it happen at Calero. Our final learn to ski day is on August 7th with Santa Clara parks, and your help appreciated.

Regionals John Crivello won Men 6 tricks, Troy Crivello who grew up skiing the Pond, won Men 2 slalom.

Update on the Pond While the construction of the dam was completed on schedule, and the new block house that has all the control equipment is done, there is no power yet to the block house. There was some interest in running off generators to see if it all worked, but the safety departments of dams won’t let that happen. PG&E has not given Valley Water a date to get the hard wired power to the block house. So no water will be released to get to the Pond till that power is there.

All the best wishes for late summer, Gordon Simmons President
